THE PROCESS

The process at Wooldreamers is not a sum of isolated steps. It is a way of working that begins at the source of the wool and unfolds entirely within the same territory, maintaining a direct relationship with the material, the place, and the people who make it possible.

Every decision made throughout the process has a real impact on the final thread and the environment of which it is a part.

the origin

The process begins in the land and the flocks that roam it. Wool is born from a direct relationship between animals, people, and the landscape.

our wool

Before becoming a raw material, wool is part of the animal and its environment. Understanding its origin is key to understanding everything that comes after.

THE SHEARING

Shearing is the first conscious act performed on the wool. A key moment that defines respect for the animal, the craft, and the fiber.

The washhouse

Washing the wool is one of the most delicate phases of the process and also one of the most forgotten.

Our washing facility is one of the last ones still in operation, and it is part of an infrastructure that for decades gave meaning to the transformation of wool in the territory.

Keeping it active is not a matter of nostalgia, but of consistency: it allows working with wool in the same place where it is born, reducing travel and preserving knowledge that would otherwise disappear.

classified

After shearing, the wool is sorted manually according to its quality, length and behavior.

This step determines the fate of each fiber and conditions the entire subsequent process.

WASHING

Washing removes impurities and prepares the wool for transformation.

It is done respecting the nature of the fiber and optimizing the use of resources, respecting the characteristics of each wool.

DRYING

Once washed, the wool is dried in a controlled manner to preserve its natural qualities.

Drying time and conditions are just as important as the rest of the process.

Shape the thread

SPINNING

In spinning, it is the place where the fiber is turned into yarn.

Here its structure, its resistance and its final behavior are defined.

It's not just about transforming wool, but about understanding it. Each fiber responds differently and requires constant decisions that can only be made with experience, attention, and time.

Preparation

Before spinning, the wool is prepared so that the fiber can work homogeneously.

It is a silent but fundamental step to ensure the thread has coherence and stability.

carded

Carding organizes the fiber and defines its subsequent behavior.

The regularity, feel, and strength of the thread depend on this gesture.

yarn

In this phase the prepared fiber is transformed into yarn.

Rhythm, tension, and experience determine the final character of the thread.

The process continues

The process doesn't end with the yarn. It continues in the workplace, with the people who sustain it, and in the relationships that make it possible. Understanding how wool is transformed is also understanding the land and history that surround it.
