This hat and cowl design is made using the limited edition Mota Marled and the solid colors from the original Mota collection. It’s a fun pattern to knit and an excellent way to play with colors.

PATTERN – RAMON HAT 

 

CONSTRUCTION

The hat is knitted from the bottom up seamlessly. The cowl begins with a provisional cast on and is worked in the round. Then, the two ends are joined using the Kitchener stitch once the knitting is completed.

 

SIZES

  • HAT (S/L): Head circumference: 18/19 inches (45.72/48.26 cm) / Height: 8/9.5 inches (20.32/24.13 cm).
  • COWL: Width: 7.5 inches (19.05 cm) / Total circumference: 31 inches (78.74 cm).

 

GAUGE

18 stitches x 24 rounds = 4” / 10 cm knitted in the round with your main needles, following chart A and after blocking.

 

NEEDLES & MATERIALS

Ribbing needle: 4.50 (US 7) 16″ circulars. Main needle: 5.50 (US 9) 16″ circulars, & double-pointed needles for decreases in the hat or you can use the magic loop technique. 1 marker for the beginning of the round. Crochet hook for provisional cast on. Scrap yarn for Provisional Cast On. Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

The materials are the same for both.

Main Color (MC): 2 skeins of Mota Marled, color GGA (grey with blue). Contrast Color (CC): 1 skein of Mota, color 834 G.

MOTA: 230m/252 yards – 100g 3ply, 100% Merino & Manx.
