Our Philosophy
[/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”Where does our wool come from?”]All the wool used in Wooldreamers’ collection come from sheeps in our territory, as close as possible to us, and nationally sourced. Each collection has its full traceability, from the sheep to your hands.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What does it mean to have full traceability?”]Thanks to the fact that we carry out all of the processes, from shearing to the final spinning, we can guarantee the exact origin of our collections. This is something unique and that only a few brands can achieve since several intermediate processes are involved on the way from the sheep to the yarn, in which the traceability of the wool can be lost. [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do you go through the whole process?”]Exactly, from the shearing that takes place in our farm up until the final spinning. Once our crew of shearers bring the wool to our laundry in Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca), we do all the subsequent processing here.
The fact that we can do all the process in the same place prevents a lot of carbon emissions that, together with the use of renewable energies such as solar and biomass, allow us to produce one of the yarns with the least carbon footprint on the market. [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How long have you been making wool?”]Even though Wooldreamers is a young project, we are the 4th generation of our family spinning. We have been working with wool for more than 100 years![/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do you select the herds that will be part of your collections?”]
The herds are selected once we make sure that they comply with the quality and animal welfare guarantees under which the Wooldreamers project was born. We always set our eyes on herds that are linked to extensive or transhumant practices and that are as close to our facilities as possible. With these investigations we know that our project will have a positive impact on the ecosystem and the community in which these sheep live.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are your wools mulesing free?”]
Yes, completely. In Spain this practice is not carried out but in any case we continually check it thanks to our constant audits on the farms with which we work with.
[/vc_toggle][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1410358939666{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_inner css=”.vc_custom_1650913564158{padding-right: 5% !important;padding-left: 10px !important;}” offset=”vc_hidden-lg vc_hidden-md vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][vc_toggle title=”Does the sheep suffer from stress or mistreatment during shearing?”]
No, on the contrary. It is scientifically proven that sheeps lower their stress level once shearing is done. It is true that at the time of shearing the sheep tend to get nervous since it is a rather fearful animal. However, thanks to methods like Tally Hi* practiced by our shearers, this nervousness becomes comfort.
This method consists in supporting the sheep on the shearers’ knees without any kind of ties. The sheep, in an almost magical way, lays comfortably and the shearer is able to do his job calmly. It is worth seeing.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What do you do to improve the problem with wool in Spain?”]
We make a small contribution in this towards a more circular and sustainable economy. Thanks to the fact that we avoid the presence of many intermediaries, we can pass these benefits on to profits for the herders.
All the flocks that work with us receive compensation for their wool that is much higher than the market value (in many cases it triples). They go from having losses to being able to obtain some profit that helps them continue with this profession. This results in shepherds who decide to continue betting on wool and animal care.

How long have you been making wool?
Even though Wooldreamers is a young project, we are the 4th generation of our family spinning. We have been working with wool for more than 100 years!
It was due to the devaluation of local wools and the continuous pressure on the primary sector that we decided to create this project and show the world that our wools are very worthwhile and that we must take care of them. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

We have been working closely with shepherds for many years, and we know how to spot a good flock when we see their wool. We usually stay in continuous contact with the farms and verify that they are completely extensive and/or transhumant before starting any product with their wool. We always prioritize animal welfare and ensure that our project has a positive effect on the ecosystem and the community in which these sheep live [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Our Yarns
[/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”What are the differences between the collections?”]
There are many differences between each collection. The type of wool, its origin, the type of spinning, the twist, the ply, the number of strands, and more. Each collection has its own unique characteristics. Besides, each one has a history that makes them even more authentic and exclusive.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What does it mean that your yarns are eco-friendly?”]
Thanks to our OEKOTEX Standard 100 certification, we can demonstrate that our wool is not treated with any toxic substances during cleaning or wool production. With this process, we maintain the nature and all the properties of wool.
In addition, the production process is carried out thanks to the help of sustainable and renewable energies such as biomass and solar energy.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do your yarns undergo the Superwash treatment?”]
No, we do not use this process because it is highly polluting. Besides, the nature of this fiber is also destroyed.
With the superwash method, also known as Chlorine-Hercosett, the scales of the wool fibers are first destroyed with hydrochloric acid and then coated with Hercosett resin. It is for this reason that when you touch these yarns, they feel like plastic.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I have found plant remains, what do I do?”]
We are used to commercial yarns undergoing a process called carbonization. During this process, the wool is soaked in a bath of sulfuric acid and other chemicals to clean it and completely remove any plant remains. This process can damage the wool fiber and is highly polluting. We do not use this process because it goes against our ecological principles.
Instead, we use various processes to remove as much plant material as possible, leaving only a small amount visible in the final yarn. Usually, these plant materials will fall out as you knit or crochet with the skein or ball. If they do not, we recommend using tweezers to remove them carefully.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are the yarn colors the same as in the photos?”]
We try to make the photos as faithful as possible to the color of the thread, but due to lighting, editing, and the different screen resolutions from computers and mobiles the real color of the wool may differ from the pictures.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Is the number of meters of the skeins and balls exact?”]
The number of yards/meters is approximate. Natural fibers such as wool behave naturally and in many cases depending on various factors such as humidity or temperature, they can have more or less elasticity.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What if I’m not following the label’s instructions?”]
The characteristics of the yarn, the samples or the needles to be used are suggestions and recommendations that we make. But we understand that everyone works with yarn differently and has their own preferences.
[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I saw that you also help people with different intellectual abilities, is that true?”]
Yes, that’s true. When we started this project, inclusion was one of our main goals and we wanted to find a way for our collections to support and be involved with people with disabilities. That is why we wanted to include them and give them a task in this beautiful project. They are the creators of the labeling and braiding of our skeins. These individuals are from the El Castellar Occupational Center in Mota del Cuervo and the Asprona Occupational Center in Villarrobledo.
