Origin & Habitat

Direct descendant of the African Bení Ahsen breed, from the Moroccan Atlantic coast. Its high rusticity is remarkable since it allows the animals to survive in such a hostile environment with high temperatures and low rainfall. They have the ability to take advantage of very poor pastures with low nutritional value. This sheep also uses products and derivatives of agricultural crops in the Valencian orchard area as almond sheel, olive branch, citrus, etc. It is currently classified as an endangered native breed.

Wool

These sheep provide us with entrefina wool between 24-28 microns. Besides its characterized reddish colour, stands out the abundance of suarda, which is a greasy substance, that helps protecting the wool.
