KIT Classic Jacket – Cautiva

Classic Jacket is a modern take on a knitted blazer with notched lapels, pockets, and ribbing details that flow from the top of the jacket to the vented hemline. You can include pockets, buttons, and buttonholes, and even choose the width for blocking the lapels. Classic Jacket will surely become a staple in your wardrobe. Classic Jacket is worked from the top down in a seamless manner. Stability is built in as you go so that it retains its shape as you wear it (a lot). The top of the back yoke is worked first, then the shoulders are worked along the slanted sides of the back yoke. Stitches are picked up for the yoke fronts, and the rest of the yoke and body are worked back and forth in one piece until the hem ribbing is split at the center back. The pocket bottoms are set in right before starting the hem ribbing, and the sides of the pockets are stitched down after blocking. Collar stitches are picked up from the cast-on edge to add stability to the neckline, as we don’t want it to stretch out.

GAUGE: 24 sts / 34 rows = 4″ / 10 cm square in stockinette stitch using large needles to reach gauge after blocking.

NEEDLE USED:

• Large (Main): Use size 5 (3.75 mm) needles with a 16″ / 40 cm and 29–32″ / 70–80 cm circular needle and a set of DPNs (or use your preferred method of circular knitting for the sleeves).
• Small: Use size 4 (3.5 mm) needles with a 29–32″ / 70–80 cm circular needle. Use this only for the collar and any other ribbing if indicated by gauge swatch.
• Ribbing: This could be the large or the small needle depending on your gauge swatch.

Adjust needle sizes to obtain the correct gauge!
