PATTERN – DULCINEA SHAWL

SKILLS
To knit this shawl you need to know how to knit, purl, to cast-on with your preferred method for the beginning of the shawl and to perform the knitted cast-on method for the beginning of the i-cord, to make increases, to pick up stitches, to perform an i-cord bind-off and to be familiar with slipping stitches. It is essential to be able to follow charted instructions, as written instructions are not provided.

CONSTRUCTION
This shawl is knit top-down, starting at the centre of the top border, and then growing to the sides and down, its final shape is triangular. It is finished with an i-cord all around, to give consistency to the edge. It is important to note that you do not need to cut the yarn between colour changes, as the colours are carried up at the edge until the end of the pattern. That is why once finished knitting the main body of the shawl, an i-cord is worked all around the edge, to hide the colours that were carried up along the side.

GAUGE
26 stitches and 33 rows in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in stockinette stitch, without blocking.

YARN
3 skeins in 3 different colours (1 in each colour) of Dehesa de Barrera by Wooldreamers (100% Wool; 410 m / 100 g, 448 yd / 3.52 oz).

The colourways used are the green “Verde Gordalilla” 0839 as Colour 1, the grey “Noche estrellada” 201 as Colour 2, and the white “Uva moscatel” 0210 as Colour 3 for the green version; and the pink “Flamenco rosado” 1677 as Colour 1, the rust “Campo arado” 1246 as Colour 2, and the beige “Queso curado” 1309 as Colour 3 for the pink version.

NEEDLES
3.5 mm US 4 circular needles with a cable length of 80 cm 32”, or the required needle size to obtain gauge (without blocking).

OTHER NOTIONS
1 marker for the centre of the shawl. Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
